Dear Chargers community,
I’m writing to share an important update regarding Lighthouse Christian Athletics’ Board of Directors. Effective January 1,
2026, I, Bret Applegate, will be stepping down as Board President after serving the past two years. It has been a privilege
to help lead the Chargers in this capacity, and I’m deeply grateful for the support and partnership of our board members,
staff, coaches, families, and supporters.
Also effective January 1, 2026, the Board has appointed Casey Haynes to serve as the next Board President. Casey has
consistently demonstrated thoughtful leadership and a strong commitment to our mission, and I’m confident Casey will guide
the organization with clarity, integrity, and purpose.
In addition, we want to share that three other board members—Thad Forrester, Chris Allison, and David Lohn have resigned
their Board positions effective the beginning of this year. Due to the tightening of Board policy regarding active coaches
serving as Board Members, as well as some shifting personal circumstances, all three determined that stepping away from Board
service was an appropriate decision at this time. We are grateful for their time, service, and contributions to the Chargers,
and we thank them for all the ways they have invested in our athletes and programs.
For the time being, I will remain on the Board as an at-large member and will continue supporting Casey and the rest of the
Board to ensure a smooth and successful transition. We are actively evaluating additional Board candidates and plan to add
two to three new members by the end of January. I am extremely excited for the future and the fresh perspectives and
enthusiasm that our new board members will bring to the Chargers.
Please join me in thanking Thad, Chris, and David for their service and in welcoming Casey into his new role. Thank you for
your continued support of Lighthouse Christian Athletics and the student-athletes we serve!
